More and more Portuguese citizens are investing in solar panels and batteries to reduce their dependence on the grid and lower energy costs. <\/p>\n Battery Cluster Portugal has played an active role in promoting energy communities, enabling a more efficient and sustainable use of energy. Recently, applications for mini-agendas were opened, an opportunity that the Cluster is embracing to support the creation of energy communities. <\/p>\n Opportunities and challenges in lithium exploration<\/strong> – The interview also addressed lithium exploration, a crucial resource for battery production, with Portugal holding the largest lithium reserves in Europe. The potential positive impact of this sector on the national economy, particularly in the northern region where the main reserves are located, was emphasized. <\/p>\n Despite initial concerns from local communities, increasing awareness of the economic and social benefits of lithium exploration has helped mitigate opposition. The case of Savannah, the company responsible for lithium extraction in Boticas, was cited as an example of how royalties paid to the municipality can boost local investments in healthcare and education.
