10 September, 2025

PIEP joins Battery Cluster Portugal as one of nine new members approved in September.

At the beginning of September, Battery Cluster Portugal approved, at its General Assembly, the entry of nine new members, strengthening the Cluster’s representation and diversity within the national battery and energy storage ecosystem.

Among the new members, we are pleased to introduce first PIEP – Innovation Pole in Polymer Engineering, a national and international reference entity in the field of Research, Development and Innovation.

Based in Guimarães and closely linked to the University of Minho, PIEP plays a key role in transferring scientific and technological knowledge to industry, contributing to the creation of innovative, competitive, and sustainable solutions. Its work spans several sectors, with a particular focus on circular economy, decarbonisation, new materials, advanced manufacturing processes, and solutions for electric mobility. Its integration in the Battery Cluster will foster collaboration between industry, research centres, and startups, creating an environment conducive to open innovation and technology transfer.

With PIEP’s entry, Battery Cluster Portugal reinforces its mission to promote collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth within the sector, creating strategic synergies that strengthen the battery value chain in Portugal and across Europe.

In the coming weeks, we will introduce the other new members joining this growing network, further consolidating the Cluster’s role as a strategic cooperation platform for the sector’s development.
