The “Growth Box” Open Call, part of the European GreenGrid project, is now officially open and offers financial support of up to 50.000€ for SMEs developing innovative solutions to address real challenges in the energy and electricity grid sectors.
The aim of this initiative is to support the validation, demonstration, and scalability of innovative technologies in real operational environments, promoting solutions related to:
- renewable energy integration;
- energy storage;
- grid flexibility;
- digitalisation;
- decarbonisation;
- energy system resilience.
The call is open to SMEs established in the European Union or in countries participating in the Single Market Programme, with solutions demonstrating sufficient technological maturity for validation in real-life conditions (TRl 5-8).
As part of this first Open Call, 10 challenges launched by different European industrial entities are available, including companies, grid operators, industrial parks, and organisations linked to the energy transition. Participating Challenge Owners include:
- Enefit Green;
- Elektrilevi;
- AGROTAMI FRUCT;
- Associação KlubeSol;
- Ignitis Group;
- Klaipeda Free Economic Zone;
- Bricomarché;
- Zipper Romania.
The programme includes:
- funding of up to 50.000€ per SME;
- implementation of pilots in real operational environments;
- participation in the GreenGrid acceleration programme;
- connection with European industrial partners and international scaling opportunities.
The first round of the Open Call runs from 7 May to 7 July 2026.
GreenGrid is a Eurocluster project funded by the European Union under the SMP-COSME programme and brings together European partners focused on promoting innovation, grid flexibility, and the sustainable energy transition. The consortium inlcudes organisations from Lithuania, Estonia, Sweden, Portugal, Ireland, and Belgium, including Battery Cluster Portugal.
