New Approved Project: Green Grid Europe

25 June, 2025

In June 2025, the Battery Cluster received confirmation of the approval of the project Green Grid Europe: Eurocluster for Renewable Energy Growth.

We are pleased to announce the approval of the Green Grid Europe project, a Eurocluster funded by the European Union through the COSME programme, with the active participation of the Battery Cluster. This project represents a strategic step in strengthening Europe’s energy transition and supporting sustainable innovation driven by SMEs.

Green Grid Europe aims to accelerate the transtion to a NetZero economy by promoting the growth of cleantech SMEs and enhancing the resilience of energy systems through renewable energy. The project addresses two key challenges:

  • Industrial SMEs, which are major energy consumers but face obstacles in optimizing their energy use;
  • Cleantech SMEs, which develop innovative solutions but struggle with market access, funding, and integration into industrial value chains.

With a €2 million financial support scheme (FSTP), the project also offers capacity-building initiatives such as the Net0 Academy, and market access programmes like MarketPulse, creating tangible opportunities for scaling cleantech solutions and boosting internationalization.

Green Grid fosters collaboration with grid operators (TSOs and DSOs), energy-intensive industries, investors, and policymakers, playing an active role in the adoption and commercialisation of NetZero technologies.

Through integration with the European networks EEN (Enterprise Europe Network) and ECCP (European Cluster Collaboration Platform), the project reinforces the EU’s strategic autonomy and positions European SMEs as key players in the global clean energy transiton.

This is yet another milestone in the Battery Cluster’s commitment to sustainable innovation and direct support for its members.
