On May 6, the Battery Cluster hosted the second webinar in its series dedicated to the energy transition, under the theme “Stationary Energy Storage: The Path to a Sustainable Power Grid.”
The session featured the participation of leading Portuguese institutions, including Universidade Nova de Lisboa, IEP – Instituto Eletrotécnico Português, INEGI – Instituto de Ciência e Inovação em Engenharia Mecânica e Engenharia Industrial, CeNTI – Centro de Nanotecnologia e Materiais Técnicos, Funcionais e Inteligentes and Vasco da Gama CoLAB.
With around 50 participants, the webinar emphasized the crucial role of stationary energy storage in ensuring the stability, flexibility, and sustainability of the power grid. Discussions covered topics such as the deployment of batteries across different levels of the electrical system, the integration of hybrid solutions, equipment standardization and certification, regulatory challenges, and the importance of collaborative innovation in developing more efficient technologies.
These virtual gatherings also serve as a springboard for future collaborations and applications to funding programmes such as PT2030 and Horizon Europe, strengthening Portugal’s position as a key player in the battery sector and the energy transition.
This webinar reaffirms the Battery Cluster’s commitment to promoting knowledge, cooperation, and innovation around energy storage as a critical pillar for a sustainable energy future.
