On November 11, the Battery Cluster Portugal hosted an XR (Extended Reality) workshop at CeNTI – Centre for Nanotechnology and Smart Materials, under the European project SUNRISE.
The session was led by Robert Szlęzak, expert from ECN S.A. (Poland), who introduced practical applications of Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (XR) in Industry 4.0, training, technology promotion, and digital communication.
Throughout the workshop, participants had the opportunity to experiment with XR and 360º equipment and create immersive content, exploring the full process. Practical case studies demonstrated how immersive technologies can be integrated into industrial environments, with examples from ECN S.A.’s projects in combined heat and power plants and local energy systems, featuring 3D models, digital twins, and XR-based monitoring and inspection tools.
The event highlighted the growing importance of immersive technologies in technical training, scientific communication, and industrial process optimization, underlining the role of digital transformation and collaborative innovation across Europe.
Battery Cluster Portugal thanks all participants and CeNTI for their support, as well as the SUNRISE Project, funded by the European Union, for enabling this initiative that connects the Portuguese innovation ecosystem with the latest trends in Extended Reality and Artificial Intelligence.
