On 25 September, Battery Cluster Portugal took part in the closing event of the NGS – New Generation Storage Mobilising Agenda, held at dstgroup’s facilities in Braga, with a dedicated space showcasing NGS+.
The event brought together the different organisations that contributed to the implementation of the Agenda over the past four years, providing an opportunity not only to reflect on the work carried out, but also to look ahead to the future of the battery and energy storage value chain in Portugal.
Four years of building a national ecosystem
The NGS Agenda was created with the ambition of strengthening Portugal’s capabilities across different stages of the battery value chain, bringing together companies, universities, research centres and other ecosystem stakeholders to address common technological and industrial challenges.
Throughout its implementation, this collaboration resulted in the development of new solutions, the creation and strengthening of research and production capabilities, and the consolidation of national expertise in areas ranging from materials and components to battery integration, reuse and recycling.
Beyond the individual results achieved, the Agenda leaves behind a network of knowledge, expertise, infrastructure and collaborative relationships that strengthens Portugal’s capacity to continue developing innovative solutions in the field of energy storage.
NGS+: continuing the path started by the Agenda
With a clear focus on the future, Battery Cluster Portugal presented NGS+ during the event.
The presence of NGS+ highlighted the importance of building on the knowledge and capabilities developed within the NGS Agenda, fostering the continuity of the connections established between different stakeholders and creating new opportunities for collaboration within Portugal’s battery ecosystem.
The closing of the Agenda therefore represents not only the completion of a four-year cycle, but also a starting point to continue transforming the knowledge developed into new opportunities for innovation, cooperation and growth across the national value chain.
